ACAT.

The Omega ACAT is an electronic device run with a completion to initiate the operation of one or more completion devices. Output from the Omega ACAT may actuate a solenoid, motor or pyrotechnics to set a packer, cycle a valve or sleeve, or indeed initiate the operation of any number of completion components. The Omega ACAT is a development of the highly successful 4S Slickline Explosives Trigger system as successfully used in a variety of wells worldwide since 1994. As such, the ACAT electronics are field proven. The ACAT is pre-programmed at surface to function in a number of ways. A set-up configuration is downloaded to the ACAT microprocessor from a standard PC. On powering up, the ACAT steps through the following programmed steps:

a) Initial delay: (1-21,600 mins)
b) Temperature Threshold: (0-150degC)
c) Pressure Threshold: (0-10,000 psi)
d) Pressure Stability -15 min: (0-1,000 psi)
e) Number of pulses: (0-3)
f) Pressure pulse height: ±(100-2,500)
g) Final Delay: (1-21,600 mins)

Use of the ACAT allows great flexibility when running a completion. Any number of pressure tests may be performed without needlessly cycling tools. Contingency for bad weather can be built into the operation in addition to allowing completions without the need for intervention. Each of these features can have major cost saving implications. Multiple ACAT tools may be used in a single completion with different configurations. Each ACAT may be equipped with one or two electronics assemblies to provide full redundancy.
