Erodible Barrier Plug.

The Erodable Barrier Plug is a unique patented concept developed by Omega. It is a 5,000 psi pressure barrier and may be run as part of the tubing string or lower completion to provide pressure isolation. This may assist in packer setting, pressure testing the tubing and other operations.

A solid plug of sand blocks the bore of the tool with an annular flow area around the outside. The annular area is isolated by a valve sleeve which is moved to the open position when the tool is functioned. Twin electronic systems provide full redundancy and will open the tool following receipt of the appropriate command.

Once flow is established through the annular space, the turbulence created will erode away the outer area of the sand plug. When the sand has been eroded away, flow can also pass through the main bore. The main bore is smooth and has a generous flow area.

Initiation of the EBP may be with any one or more of the below methods.

1. Pressure pulse - either command or demand activation.
2. Timer activation.
3. Applied pressure - shear disc operated.
4. Manual operation - Jar down on shifting profile.
