High Expansion Retrievable Bridge Plug.

The HEX (High Expansion) Retrievable Bridge Plug addresses the industry need for a versatile and more importantly, a reliable Hi-Expansion Retrievable Bridge Plug, that does not employ an inflated packing element. Designed to pass well restriction’s which normally prevent a non-inflatable Retrievable Bridge Plug to be deployed and then set anywhere in the tubing or casing ID, the HEX will hold differential pressure from above and below. Standard deployment is achieved via the Omega Hydrostatic Setting Tool on Slickline or Electric Line this ensures both a full, and a controlled setting sequence.

Bi-directional slips provide a large contact area once set. The unique self centralising setting adapter ensures that the element is expanded in a uniform fashion in the tubing. On retrieval the slips are positively pulled back from the casing/tubing wall to their running position.

The innovative packer design is based on a one piece elastomer element that is supported by a unique mechanical backup system. This system consists of two symmetrical metallic umbrellas that expand towards the casing/tubing wall during the setting, thus supporting the elastomer element from both sides and preventing extrusion. When un-set the umbrellas will fold back to their original position. The pulling action also features a positive retraction of the elastomer element.

Retrieval of the HEX is done with a standard wireline GS pulling tool without the requirement of an additional equalizing/pulling prong. This is achieved in one run, which minimizes well intervention and operational costs.
