Tracer Deployment Valve: TDV

The Omega Tracer Deployment Valve (T.D.V) is a time delay based device, which is run as an integral part of the completion string. Its function is to introduce a Tracer into the well bore flow, following a predetermined time delay.

Using the Omega T.D.V combined with proven Tracer technology, the percentage split of produced water and oil in a commingled well can be determined. Cross flow and horizontal well characteristics can also be determined with this equipment.

The Omega T.D.V. provides a sealed chamber containing a chosen tracer. The timer section features two electronic units, which are totally independent of each other for full redundancy. Following a delay of up to 150 days the electronic timer system actuates a mechanism which allows well pressure to flood an atmospheric chamber and provide in excess of 30K lbs opening force to shift a containment sleeve to the open position. In so doing, the well flow is permitted to flow through the tracer chamber allowing the production fluid to contact the tracer.

The Tracer Deployment Valve uses the same field proven technology currently used in products such as the Clean Out Valve and Self-Opening Sandface Valve. These products have all been developed from our original Addressable Completion Accessory Tool (ACAT) technology.
